March 29, 2012

So why does GiveMeTap talk about the World Water Council so regularly in their blog posts? Let’s take a look at who the Council actually is.

On the initiative of renowned water specialists and international organisations, in 1996, the World Water Council was born which is an international multi-stakeholder platform and focuses on addressing world water issues.

Their mission is “to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues at all levels, including the highest decision-making level, to facilitate the efficient conservation, protection, development, planning, management and use of water in all of its dimensions on all environmentally sustainable basis for the benefit of all life on Earth."

The Council provides a platform to promote exchanges of experience and debates to reach a common strategic vision on water resource allocation and water services management. To help achieve this objective, they initiate activities whose results converge towards its flagship product: the World Water Forum.
